What is Botox?
Botox is a protein that relaxes muscles and, most often, is used to reduce wrinkles in the skin. It’s derived from a bacterium, clostridium botulinum, that can be found in many different natural substances. When receiving Botox injections in treatment, a small dose is given that lasts temporarily.
There is no long-term way of maintaining what is achieved through Botox without surgery. You’ll need regular Botox treatments in order to preserve and maintain the benefits of Botox treatments.
Wrinkles are an inevitable part of the ageing process and can also be accelerated by exposure to the sun, excessive stress, diet, and weight loss.
These wrinkles can be ‘static’ – caused by the gradual loss of collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid, or ‘dynamic’ – created by repeated facial muscle movements, such as laughing and frowning.
However, our non-surgical facial treatments help to eliminate these lines and plump up areas of lost elasticity.
Who can benefit from Botox?
Many people decide to have botox for aesthetic reasons; to even out their forehead wrinkles or jawline.
Some people can really benefit from botox, especially sufferers of TMJ issues.
TMJ or temporomandibular joint problems happen when the muscles begin to become tense with stress. This causes you to feel discomfort when chewing, talking, as well as other movements of the jaw. Botox can be used to relax TMJ joints and muscles to provide relief of pain.
- Non-surgical option
- Appearance enhancing
- Confidence boosting
- Quick, simple procedure
- Lasting results
After a numbing cream has been applied, an extremely fine needle is used to precisely deliver small amounts of a purified protein. Making specific muscles relax to stop the skin from creasing and are an ideal treatment for dynamic wrinkles, particularly in the upper part of the face. They can be used to treat the following:
- Forehead lines
- Frown lines
- Vertical lip lines
- Crow’s feet
The procedure is relatively painless and quick, with results starting to be seen after 3 days but fully taking into effect at 2-3 weeks. The reduction in the appearance of these lines can last on average 3-4 months.
Dermal fillers can enhance skin by smoothing lines and plumping up areas of lost elasticity. They can be used to achieve a variety of rejuvenating results including:
- Contouring the cheeks and chin
- Filling deep lines, such as those that run from the nose to the mouth
- Correcting acne or chicken pox scars
- Restoring a youthful fullness and definition to lips
A numbing cream is applied to minimise any discomfort and tiny amounts of the safe, gel-like filler are injected with an ultra-fine needle into the areas requiring treatment. There is no need for a recovery period and results are instant, lasting for several months.
Vitamin B12 can provide an energy boost, which in turn promotes a positive impact on health, vitality and wellbeing.
As with all non-surgical treatments, the effects will gradually wear off over time but you can maintain your smoother, plumper skin with top-up treatments. Regular use of anti-wrinkle treatment can make results last longer, so top-up injections will be less frequent.
